Union Defeat Chicago Fire, 1-0

Report From Philadelphia Union

Chester, Pa. (August 12, 2015) – The Philadelphia Union defeated the Chicago Fire 1-0  in the semifinal of the U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night. With the victory, the Union proceed to the U.S. Open Cup final for the second consecutive year. The Union saw most of the ball during the first half with 58 percent possession and seven shots, but the game remained goalless at half time. The second half told a similar story until the 74th minute, when Sebastien Le Toux found the back of the net with a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box. With Sporting KC´s 3-1 victory against Real Salt Lake, the Union face Kansas City in PPL Park on Sept. 30 in the U.S. Open Cup final. The Union return to action this Sunday, Aug. 16, to face the Chicago Fire again at 7 p.m. at PPL Park in MLS play.
