CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union has officially agreed to a multi-year partnership with StubHub, the club announced today. The world’s largest ticket marketplace will become the official secondary ticket provider of the Philadelphia Union and Talen Energy Stadium effective at the start of the 2016 season. Per club policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The Philadelphia Union is delighted to partner with such a globally recognized brand in the ticketing industry,” Union Vice President of Corporate Partners and Premium Seating Drew Young said. “We’re specifically excited for the opportunity StubHub will present to our Season Ticket Members, who benefit from utilizing a much easier process of transferring and re-selling tickets when required to do so.”
As the official secondary ticket provider of the Philadelphia Union and Talen Energy Stadium, StubHub will receive in-stadium signage and will offer fans in-game seat upgrade promotions, premium hospitality and promotion through traditional and digital media platforms. The partnership also enables barcode integration for ticket holders to quickly and easily resell their tickets on StubHub. The industry-leading technology provides tickets that are digitally delivered to the buyer, with additional options for fans to access print-at-home tickets, plus streamlined listings to sell unused tickets and mobile fulfillment via Apple Wallet.
“StubHub is thrilled to add the Union to its roster of Major League Soccer partners and to work with the soccer community in Philadelphia,” said StubHub Head of Partnerships and Business Development Geoff Lester. “As the world’s leading live event marketplace, we look forward to providing Union fans with a complete, end-to-end ticketing experience that is not only seamless, but trusted.”
The Philadelphia Union will open Talen Energy Stadium for its seventh season in Major League Soccer in 2016. The 18,500-seat venue originally opened on June 27, 2010, when the Union defeated Seattle Sounders FC 3-1 behind three second-half goals for a comeback win. Since then, the stadium has hosted MLS Cup playoffs in 2011, the 2012 MLS All-Star Game and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final in consecutive years in 2014 and 2015. The stadium has also hosted internationally known clubs Celtic, Chivas de Guadalajara, Everton, Schalke 04, Aston Villa, Pumas UNAM, Stoke City, Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth, as well as debuting into the concert realm in 2015 with Monster Energy Rock Allegiance, which attracted more than 25,000 fans for the one-day event.
