Sometimes we’re going to have exclusives here. Other times, we’ll stick to commenting on the absurd.
On Wednesday, news broke that Nnamdi Asomugha and Kerry Washington got hitched. Normally, weddings fly under my radar — unless I’m invited, of course. But it’s hard to ignore this one, not after Asomugha stole money from the Eagles for two seasons. Now, Asomugha has married one of the most talented and best-looking actresses in Hollywood.
What? Let Nnamdi tell the story: “My whole motto has been playing hard, being focused on every snap. If the guy gets one, he earned it.”
There are so many jokes I could make. I won’t. And yes, that is an actual quote from Asomugha, circa 2012, in response to his method on being an “elite cornerback.”
For as much as Asomugha was a failure here on the football field — remember, he helped get Juan Castillo canned. Off it, he was pleasant to be around. He’s also one of the most philanthropic players in NFL history, even earning the title of Role Model of the Year.
Here’s to you, Nnamdi Asomugha. You weren’t focused on any every snap, but you somehow earned Kerry Washington.
On to the Fourth of July parties …
Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and Chargers running back Curtis Brinkley, a Philly native, hosted a pre-Independence Day party Wednesday night at Whisper in Rittenhouse. I haven’t seen any incriminating pictures leak — feel free to send them — except this one with a drunk-looking Ne-Yo. The hip-hop star was in town for Thursday night’s concert with The Roots.
Mark your calendar for this … On July 6, there is a celebrity softball challenge that pits Rasheed Wallace vs. Donovan McNabb at Campbell Field in Camden. Game starts at 5 p.m. and tickets are $10.
No, this isn’t a joke. This is happening. You should go. And let’s hope it ends in a tie.
