The Philadelphia Flyers (36-24-13) were able to hold serve Thursday night and retain their spot as the Eastern Conference’s second wild card spot with a 4-2 win over the host Colorado Avalanche (38-32-4). It was a tense of resiliency for Philly as the Orange and Black had to erase two one-goal deficits en route to the win. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare’s goal at 12:36 of the second period tied the game at 1-1. Trailing 2-1 late in the third the Flyers got goals from Radko Gudas and Claude Giroux less than 20 seconds apart to take a 3-2 lead before Ryan White pushed in an empty-netter with five seconds to play.
