Union Defeats Houston Dynamo, 2-0

Chester, PA.  – The Philadelphia Union defeated the Houston Dynamo 2-0 Sunday night in PPL Park gaining the club´s first MLS victory at home since July 11. Tranquillo Barnetta scored his first MLS goal just three minutes after kick off. Midfielder Sebastien Le Toux gave his sixth assist of the season when he provided a central pass to the Barnetta, who beat Houston´s goalkeeper Tyler Deric at the near post. Le Toux´s assist was the 50th of his career, making him the 16th player in MLS history to register 50 goals and 50 assists in a career. The Union´s leading goalscorer C.J. Sapong scored his ninth goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Left back Fabinho crossed the ball from the corner flag and Sapong one-touched it into the back of the net. The Union return to PPL Park on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final against Sporting Kansas City.
