Soul’s Raudabaugh & McDaniel Earn Week 1 Accolades

Report From Philadelphia Soul

PHILADELPHIA  – Philadelphia’s QB Dan Raudabaugh and Ryan McDaniel received League awards for their performance in the 70-63 victory over the Orlando Predators last Sunday.  With 12 seconds remaining in the game, the Soul (1-0) tallied the eventual game-winning score with a 6-yard diving catch by McDaniel.

“These were well deserved awards,” Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said.  “Two guys that put in the time and work hard, but if you asked both guys, they would agree that getting the victory was the most important thing.”

Raudabaugh, who was awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game, also reached a milestone in his career Sunday, throwing his 400th touchdown pass as an AFL quarterback.  Raudabaugh, who is entering his fourth season with the Soul, finished the night by completing 30-of-48 passes for 422 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Raudabaugh has the third-most touchdown passes amongst active players, falling behind Tommy Grady (Jacksonville Sharks) and Nick Davila (Arizona Rattlers).

McDaniel was awarded Cutter’s Catch of the Week after his last-second, one-handed catch that gave the Soul their victory over the Predators.  The veteran wide receiver recorded 10 catches for 150 yards and three touchdowns in the season opener.  McDaniel, who earned J Lewis Small Playmaker of the Game honors, is entering his third season with the team and recently recovered from a season-ending Achilles injury in 2014.
