Soul LB Goosby Named AFL Player of the Week

Report From Philadelphia Soul

LAS VEGAS – The Arena Football League has announced that Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Joe Hills and Philadelphia Soul linebacker Joe Goosby have been named the offensive and defensive players of the week for Week 7 respectively.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hills (6’4”, 220, Tennessee State), the sure handed receiver helped the Storm to a 53-47 victory over the Washington Valor in Week 7. Hills led with a game-high 11 receptions for 123 yards and three receiving touchdowns, including the game winner with three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. The three-touchdown performance marks the 43rd time he has caught three or more touchdowns in a game in his five-plus year career. Hills becomes the first back-to-back AFL Player of the Week in 2017.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Goosby (6’1”, 235, Tulane) had quite the stat line in the 64-46 Philadelphia Soul victory over the Cleveland Gladiators last week. Playing in his 101st AFL game, the linebacker made three tackles, intercepted two passes, forced a fumble, returned a failed two-point conversion for a two-point score and recovered a pair of onside kicks.
