Report From Philadelphia Soul
PHILADELPHIA – The Arena Football League and the Philadelphia Soul have announced the 2016 regular-season schedule and conference alignments. The Soul will open the regular season on Friday, April 1 as they travel to Cleveland to face the Gladiators. The 2016 season marks the eleventh season for the Soul and the 29th season for the Arena Football League.
This year’s schedule will feature 16 regular season games and three rounds of postseason play, with ArenaBowl XXIX the weekend of August 26. This schedule fits into an April through August window which allows football fans to experience year-round football. The league is composed of eight teams split between the American and National Conferences. The American Conference includes: Jacksonville Sharks, Orlando Predators, Tampa Bay Storm and the Philadelphia Soul. The National Conference includes: Arizona Rattlers, LA KISS, Portland Thunder and the Cleveland Gladiators.
The Soul home opener at the Wells Fargo Center will be on Monday, April 11 with a re-match of the 2015 American Conference Championship game against the Jacksonville Sharks. The team’s eight-game home schedule features one Monday, one Friday, five Saturdays and one Sunday and including visits from: Jacksonville, Cleveland, Portland, Orlando, Los Angeles, Arizona and Tampa Bay. Of the eight home games, six will be played at the Wells Fargo Center and two will be played at locations TBA, due to upcoming construction at the arena.
