Report From Philadelphia Soul
PHILADELPHIA- The Arena Football League today announced that WR Darius Reynolds (6’2, 205, Iowa State) and ILB Joe Goosby (6’1, 230, Tulane) have been added to the 2016 roster. This is Reynold’s fifth AFL season and first with the Soul. Goosby returns for his fifth season in Philadelphia.
Reynolds was a member of the ArenaBowl winning SaberCats this past season and recorded 49 catches for 561 yards and 11 touchdowns. Prior to the SaberCats, he totaled 176 catches for 2,567 yards and 55 touchdowns in three seasons with the Iowa Barnstormers (2012-14). He was awarded Second Team All-Arena in 2014. Before heading to the AFL, Reynolds attended the 2012 Green Bay Packers rookie camp. He finished his collegiate career at Iowa State after transferring from Reedley College, where he totaled 81 receptions for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns playing for Iowa State.
“We have evaluated Darius as the top receiver in the Arena Football League, he has been a focus of our off season recruiting,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. “He is a dynamic receiver with great size, speed and hands, and his addition will make us a very difficult offense to stop.”
Goosby recorded 68.5 total tackles with the Soul last season, along with four-pass breakups, five forced fumbles and two interceptions for seven yards and one touchdown. Prior to his four year run in Philadelphia, Goosby played for the Dallas Vigilantes in 2011. In his five seasons, he has totaled 278.0 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 21.0 pass breakup and eight fumble recoveries. Goosby tallied 100 tackles in 33 career games for the Tulane Green Wave and was awarded All-Conference USA recognition in 2006.
“Joe has been a rock at the Jack linebacker position for four season now,” said Dolezel. “Having him back gives us the talent and experience to continue to be one of the best defenses in the Arena Football League.”
