The Sixers fell to 0-5 on the season Wednesday after a heartbreaking 91-89 home loss to the Orlando Magic, who improved to 1-4 with the victory.
The game was close throughout, with the result coming down to the final two possessions. With just over six seconds left to play and Philadelphia trailing 89-87, the Sixers inbounded the ball to Henry Sims, who knocked a jumper from just inside the three-point line with 4.6 seconds left to tie the game at 89 apiece. With the final possession of the game, the Magic found Tobias Harris, who knocked down a buzzer-beating shot over the outstretched arm of Luc Mbah a Moute to give the Magic a 91-89 win.
Wroten Won’t Be Denied
Tony Wroten led the way with 27 points, eight assists, and five steals. The 6’6” combo guard has filled in for the injured Michael Carter-Williams well, showcasing his ability to get to the rim at will en route to a team-leading 20.8 points per game. Wroten’s 27 points were only three away from his career high.
Davies Does it Again
Brandon Davies has played the best basketball of his professional career through five games this season. Last year, the 6’10” forward averaged 2.8 points in 11.3 minutes per game, but this season is averaging 12.6 points in 20.0 minutes per , good for second on the team. Against the Magic, Davies was active in the paint and scored in variety of ways, including a straightaway three in the fourth quarter.

Injury Update
Nerlens Noel sprained his left ankle during the third quarter and did not return for the rest of the game. His status for Friday is unknown.

The Sixers have a quick turnaround, as they take on the Chicago Bulls Friday at the home. On Wednesday, the Bulls welcomed Derrick Rose back from an ankle injury that forced him to miss two games. Friday’s game will be Stars & Stripes Night, presented by Toyota. The Sixers and Toyota will donate 1,500 tickets to active and retired service members for the game.
