Report From Philadelphia 76ers
On Wednesday morning, head coach Brett Brown took to the roof of the Sixers’ practice facility to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
After toweling off and changing into dry clothing, he departed for Philadelphia International Airport to catch a plane to his homestate of Maine.
On Thursday, Brown will be inducted into the state’s Basketball Hall of Fame along with 20 other former coaches and players with Maine ties.
In high school, Brown was a Maine All-State player for two years, a Vinal Trophy winner, and a Converse All-American.
He also led South Portland High School to two Western Maine Championships, including a state championship in 1979.
The second-year head coach will be joined by his father, Bob Brown, who will be inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame’s inaugural class for his 50 years of coaching in the state.
