Phillies first baseman Darin Ruf had a lot to do with his team not losing an 11th consecutive game to the host new York Mets Tuesday night. Ruf knocked in a career-high six RBI with three hits (including his seventh home run of the season) during the 14-8 win at Citi Field. The Mets made things interesting in the fifth inning when, down 6-0, they rallied for four runs against starter Aaron Harang. But an eight-run sixth by the Phillies gave them all the support they’d need. Jeanmar Gomez earned the win in relief despite allowing two earned runs in his two innings of work.
