PHILADELPHIA (August 17, 2015)- The Arena Football League today announced the 2015 All-Arena Defensive Teams. DB James Romain (5’10, 170, Delaware State) earned First Team All-Arena and DE Bryan Robinson (6’3, 290, Wesley) was awarded Second Team All-Arena.
“Romain is one of the most fierce and competitive players I have ever coached,” said Soul Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator, Derek Stingley. “His dedication and hard work on the field are the reasons he was awarded this honor.”
“I am happy to see Bryan bounce back after last season,” said Soul Assistant Head Coach, Phil Bogle. “He rededicated himself in the offseason and that focus was reflected onto the field.”
Romain, in his third season with the Soul, was ranked fourth in the league for interceptions (10) and second among his teammates in tackles (69.0). The defensive back also recorded 29 pass breakups and three forced fumbles for the 2015 season. He was awarded Riddell Defensive Player of the Game for Weeks 1, 3, 6,7 10, 11 and 15.
This is Robinson’s fourth season with the team. He was awarded Second Team All-Arena in 2012 and First Team All-Arena in 2013. Robinson led the team in sacks (9.0) and was ranked ninth overall in the league. He also recorded 27.0 total tackles, 12.0 tackles for a loss of 58 yards, one interception, two fumble recoveries and the team’s only safety this season.
The Soul host the Jacksonville Sharks in the American Conference Championship on Sunday, August 23. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
