Rally Comes too Late for Phillies in Loss to Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox had the last say in a seesaw game to open their series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Fenway Park Friday night. After trailing early 1-0, the Phillies held a 2-1 lead after four innings only to go down 3-2 an inning later. The Sox then got to starter Adam Morgan and reliever Jeanmar Gonzalez in a big way in the seventh when Jackie Bradley hit a one-out solo home run. With two outs, David Ortiz plated one with an RBI double that was followed by Travis Shaw single in which Ortiz was able to score in part due to an error by Darin Ruf on the throw from the outfield. Morgan took the loss, allowing six earned over 6.1 innings. Aaron Altherr and Odubel Herrera both had three hits.
