The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with utility player Whit Merrifield. The deal is reportedly worth $8 million with a club option for 2025. To make room for Merrifield on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Kaleb Ort was designated for assignment.
The club has also agreed to terms on a contract for the 2024 season with right-handed pitcher Spencer Turnbull. To make room for Turnbull on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher McKinley Moore was designated for assignment.
