Phillies Let Early Lead Slip Away in Loss to Mets

A 7-2 lead after three innings was not enough for the Phillies’ pitching staff Monday night during a 16-7 loss to the visiting Mets.New York scored 12 times in innings 4-7 alone while clubbing eight home runs on the evening to take the series opener at Citizens Bank Park. Ryan Howard, Domonic Brown and Cameron Rupp all homered for the Phillies. Hector Neris took the loss in relief of Adam Morgan, who lasted just 3.2 innings and allowed five runs.
