New acquisition Dustin McGowan struggled mightily in his first start as a Phillie, not that there was any offensive support to assist him anyway as the Phillies dropped their second straight game to the former lone NL East cellar-dwelling Miami Marlins 9-1 to wrap up their three-game series. McGowan lasted just 3.1 innings in the contest and surrendered four runs (all earned) on three hits and four walks. The Phillies collected eight hits during the afternoon tilt (including a pair of doubles by Darin Ruf), but didn’t crack the scoreboard until the ninth inning when Jeff Francoeur scored on a sacrifice fly by Cesar Hernandez. The Phillies also committed two more errors in the game. Giancarlo hit his fourth home run of the season and second of the series for the Fish. For more on this game, click here.
