Bryce Harper’s three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning Friday night was all the offense the Washington Nationals would need (though they’d get more) as the Phillies dropped their sixth consecutive game, losing 7-2 at Nationals Park. Max Scherzer (1-1) earned his first win in a Washington uniform by throwing eight innings of one-run, four-hit ball with nine strikeouts. Phillies’ starter Sean O’Sullivan did not look as impressive as he had in his first start, lasting just five innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks. Ryan Howard and Freddy Galvis both knocked in runs. The Phillies try to avoid the sweep on Saturday. For more on this game, click here.
