The Phillies have resigned former outfielder Bobby Abreu to a minor league contract and have invited him to Spring Training, according to a report by ESPN. The deal is reportedly worth $800,000 if he makes the Big League roster. The 39-year-old hasn’t played in the majors since 2012 with the Dodgers. A two-time All-Star with 2,437 career hits, 287 homers and 399 stolen bases in 17 seasons was traded from the Phillies in 1998 to the Yankees.

He ranks 23rd on MLB’s career list with 565 doubles and is 22nd in walks with 1,456. He needs 13 home runs and one stolen base to join Barry and Bobby Bonds as the only players in MLB history with 300 homers and 400 steals.

Abreu reportedly also garnered interest this offseason from the Mets and Indians after playing well in the Venezuelan Winter League.
