Report From Philadelphia Flyers
Michael Raffl did not finish the second half of the third period in last night’s 4-1 win over the Oilers. After the game GM Ron Hextall announced that Raffl suffered a lower-body injury.
He wasn’t on the ice today at practice and Hextall announced to the media shortly afterwards that Raffl will be out six weeks with his lower-body injury.
So far, he has spent most of this season on the Flyers top line with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, posting a team-high six goals (with Wayne Simmonds) and seven points to go along with a +2 rating.
Inserted into that top line at practice today was Chris VandeVelde.
Raffl is the latest Flyer to hit the list of injuries.
Defensemen Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald are currently sidelined with lower-body injuries, not to mention the injury to Kimmo Timonen that will keep him out of action until at least the New Year.
Vincent Lecavalier and Zac Rinaldo have missed time this year and while he didn’t miss any games, Wayne Simmonds dealt with a lower-body injury that nearly caused him to miss the season opening game.
Forward Ryan White, acquired in the off-season, has been off the ice and rehabbing from surgery to repair his left pectoralis muscle. There is no time-table for his return.
The Flyers currently have 60 man-games lost, including all 12 games that Chris Pronger is officially on long term injured reserved for.
