Cole Hamles “lasted” a rather rough six innings Saturday afternoon and the offense gave new meaning to ineffectiveness all the while as the Philadelphia Phillies endured their fifth consecutive loss, a 7-0 smackdown to the host Miami Marlins. The Phils once again didn’t have any player collect more than one hit and managed six players left on base collectively on a total of six hits on the day. After throwing a scoreless first, Hamels began to leak oil in the second, allowing consecutive singles to Ichiro Suzuki and Adeiny Hechavarria to open the frame and a three-run, one-out home run to Martin Prado as Miami staked a 3-0 lead. He’d allow three more runs over the next four innings, allowing a total of 10 hits and threee walks before being pulled. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard both went 0-4 on the day. Dan Haren improved to 3-1, going six innings and allowing just four hits and zero walks with four strikeouts. For more on this game, click here.
