Report from Flyers.com
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren held a conference call with reporters on Sunday evening to discuss Vinny Lecavalier’s injury.
He announced that Lecavalier will be out of the line-up for 3-4 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his lower back.
“He had an x-ray in Dallas and we found something on the x-ray that didn’t look right. [We] got him back to Philadelphia this morning just to get him back in our own doctor’s hands and he had an MRI… We found a non-displaced fracture in his lower-back. We’re going to treat it when we can as aggressively as we have to right now. We told him to rest for a few days to get some of the discomfort out and we’ll go from there.”
Holmgren also added that the Flyers will likely make a recall from their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms by Monday night’s game at Ottawa, rather than look outside the organization.
“I would say we probably going to get by as is. [Lecavalier] does play a big role on our team. It’s hard to go out and replace a guy like that. You just have to hope other guys pick it up. There’s opportunity for other guys to perform now.”
