Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced this evening that defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has a torn ACL and will have surgery on Thursday, Nov. 13. He will be out indefinitely.
The injury occurred near the midway point of the third period between the Phantoms-Monarchs game last night in Manchester, NH. Gostisbehere recorded two assists before leaving the game, helping the team to a 3-2 win.
The 21-year-old defenseman recorded five points, all assists, in five games with the Phantoms this season, which included three assists in his last two games.
He was recently recalled by the Flyers after injuries to Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald on Oct. 24 and made his NHL debut on Oct. 25 vs. Detroit.
He appeared in two games with the Flyers, recording two shots on net and an average of 12:33 of ice time, before returning to Lehigh Valley on Nov. 1.
