R.J. Umberger finally netted his first goal of the 2015-16 season and it came at a time when the Philadelphia Flyers could really use an emotional lift – if ever a lift can be achieved in an otherwise inconsequential regular season game. Umberger’s goal broke a scoreless tie early in the second period of what would eventually become a 5-1 thrashing of the visiting Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds and Michael Raffl would all go on to tally scores in the period to help Philly and goalie Steve Mason (41 saves on 42 shots) bring a 4-0 lead into the third. Nick Cousins added his first goal of the season at 10:33 of the final frame. For more on this game, click here.
