Flyers Announce Signing of Draft Pick Laberge

Report From Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 2016 second-round draft pick Pascal Laberge to an entry-level contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Laberge, 18 (4/9/1998), was selected by the Flyers in the second round (36th overall) of last month’s NHL Entry Draft. The 6-1, 175-lb forward was the second of 10 selections by the Flyers in the draft and the first of three second-round picks made by the team.

Laberge recorded 68 points (23g, 45a) in 56 games last season for Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and added five points (3g, 2a) in five playoff games. He participated in the 2016 CHL/NHL Top Prospects game in Vancouver, where he scored two goals and assisted on the third in Team Orr’s 3-2 victory over Team Cherry. Laberge also represented Canada at the 2016 Under-18 World Championship, recording four points (2g, 2a) in seven games.

Laberge started the 2014-15 season with Gatineau before being traded to Victoriaville. He posted a total of 31 points (10g, 21a) in 58 league games that season. He joined Gatineau following a Midget AAA championship season with the Chateauguay Grenadiers in 2013-14.
