Report From Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have released cornerback Cary Williams, the team announced Tuesday.
Williams, 30, was signed by the Eagles as a free agent in 2013. He started all 32 games for the Eagles over the last two seasons, recording five interceptions.
Before joining the Eagles, Williams entered the league as a seventh-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, where he played for parts of two seasons before joining the Baltimore Ravens, where he started 28 games over four seasons.
With Bradley Fletcher set to become a free agent, the Eagles will have three cornerbacks remaining on the roster – Brandon Boykin, Nolan Carroll II and Jaylen Watkins.

In an even more surprising turn of events yesterday, the Eagles reportedly are sending All Pro running Back LeSean McCoy to Buffalo in exchange for former Oregon Duck Kristian “Kiko” Alonso. Drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft, Alonso racked up 159 tackles as a rookie before tearing his ACL leading up to the 2014 season and missing the entire year. The move, expected to be officially announced March 10, markedly changes the Birds’ free agency budget. For more on this story, click here.
