Warren Creavalle Called Up For International Duty With Guyana
CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union have announced that midfielder Warren Creavalle has been called up to the Guyana Senior Men’s National Team for their upcoming friendly match against Martinique. The match will take place at the MSC Ground in Linden, Guyana on Tuesday, March 28th. Creavalle has earned two caps for Guyana.
Creavalle, 26, was acquired by Philadelphia Union at the end of the 2015 campaign from Toronto FC. Creavalle proved to be a pivotal piece for Philadelphia in their road to the postseason last season, an achievement reached by the club for the second time in team history.
In 2016, Creavalle started in 21 matches for the Union which was a career high. For the Union last season he appeared in 27 matches tying a career high, also setting that mark in 2013 with Houston Dynamo. Creavalle started and played the full 90 in Philadelphia’s playoff matchup last season against Toronto FC. In his career Creavalle has racked up 110 games played, 70 starts with five goals and four assists.
Creavalle and the rest of Philadelphia Union will be back in action next week on April 1, when they travel 119 miles south to take on Eastern Conference rival D.C. United at RFK Stadium. Kick-off for that match is set for 7 p.m. and will be televised on The Comcast Network (TCN).
Alejandro Bedoya Called Up For International Duty
CHESTER, Pa. – The United States Men’s National Team has announced that Philadelphia Union midfielder Alejandro Bedoya has been named to the final Men’s National Team roster for their upcoming World Cup Qualifying Matches on March 24 vs. Honduras in San Jose, California and on March 28 vs. Panama in Panama City, Panama.
Bedoya will report for international duty after Philadelphia takes on Orlando City SC in Florida on Saturday. Bedoya will not miss any club action for the Union and is expected to rejoin Philadelphia on March 29, prior to Philadelphia’s road match with Eastern Conference rival D.C. United at RFK Stadium.
Bedoya has earned 57 international caps, including four FIFA World Cup appearances. At the international level, Bedoya continues to be an indispensable option for the USMNT. The midfielder started nine of 12 matches for the U.S. in 2013, including playing a pivotal role in the team’s capture of the CONCACAF Gold Cup title and finishing atop its World Cup qualifying group for the third consecutive cycle.
In 2014, Bedoya set a single year career-high 11 starts, starting in three matches in the World Cup, including the Round of 16 Match against Belgium. He appeared in all three of the group stage matches, starting the opener for the U.S. against Ghana on June 16 and the second game against Portugal on June 22, and coming on as a second-half sub against Germany. Bedoya scored the game-winner in the 1-0 win against Czech Republic on Sept. 3, 2014 in Prague. Bedoya was also a finalist for the 2014 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year award.
Bedoya has continued his USMNT prominence while being a driving force in the team’s semifinal run during the 2016 Copa America Centenario. Overall, he’s scored two goals and handed out eight assists in his international career.
The Union acquired Bedoya via the Allocation Process after the club secured the top spot in the Allocation Ranking Order in a trade with the Chicago Fire in Aug. 2016. Since joining the Union, Bedoya has recorded a goal in 12 regular season starts, while serving as the captain for Philadelphia in 2017. Bedoya recorded the first postseason road goal in Philadelphia Union club history on Oct. 26 against Toronto.
