On Thursday evening, the Eagles signed another member of their 2014 NFL Draft class, inking seventh-round pick Beau Allen to a four-year deal. Allen becomes the second member of the 2014 Eagles draft class to sign with the club, as wide receiver Josh Huff agreed to terms on Tuesday.
At the University of Wisconsin, Allen played in 54 consecutive games, during which he accumulated 94 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks. The 6-foot-2, 333-pound nose tackle met with the Eagles prior to the draft and had hoped that he would end up in Philadelphia.
Allen will compete with Bennie Logan and Damion Square for one of the roster spots at nose tackle. After Isaac Sopoaga was traded in 2013, Logan took over the starting job and performed well. Square was a rookie free agent a year ago and not only made the 53-man roster, but played in 10 games. The Eagles will have a good, healthy amount of competition at the position heading into 2014.
The Eagles have now signed two of their seven picks from the 2014 NFL Draft. Rookie camp for the Eagles begins on Friday.
