CHESTER, Pa. (May 28, 2017) – Philadelphia Union today announced that midfielder Alejandro Bedoya has received an international call-up from United States National Team Head Coach Bruce Arena.
The United States is currently participating in Fifth Round CONCACAF qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, commonly known as the Hex. The Stars & Stripes sit in fourth place in the six-team group, with the top three automatically qualifying for the FIFA World Cup and the fourth-placed team advancing to an inter-confederation playoff. Bedoya joins the team having recorded 59 caps since his debut during a friendly against Honduras on January 23, 2010, with his last appearance coming as part of a 1-1 draw at Panama during Hex play on March 28, 2017.
The Union next play on Saturday, June 3 when they travel to Yankee Stadium to meet New York City FC (1:00 p.m. ET / 6abc).
