The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6-7, 240-lb free-agent defenseman Hal Gill to a one-year contract, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Gill, 38 (4/6/1975), attended Flyers training camp on a professional try-out. He appeared in three preseason games, recording two assists and an even rating.

Gill will be entering his 16th NHL season. In 1,102 career NHL games, Gill has recorded 36 goals and 148 assists for 184 points, along with 960 PIM and a career plus-minus rating of plus-44. He was selected by Boston in the eighth round (207th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
The Flyers drop the puck on the 2013-14 season tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 2, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:30 PM (CSN-HD, 97.5 FM).
