The Philadelphia Flyers (40-27-14) are headed to the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs thanks to a 3-1 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins (48-26-8) on Saturday afternoon. Wayne Simmonds netted two goals on the afternoon, including scores that tied the game at 1-1 at 18:57 of the first period for Philly after the Penguins scored the games first goal and the go-ahead score at 16:58 of the second period. With the win, Philadelphia clinches the second wild card spot in the eastern Conference and will meet the No. 1 seed Washington Capitals in the opening round of the postseason.
Philadelphia closes the regular season at the New York Islanders on Sunday night.
