The National Hockey League announced today that Flyers captain Claude Giroux has been named to the 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star Game at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, set to take place on Jan. 30-31.
This marks the fourth time that Giroux has been named to the NHL All-Star Team after playing in the game 2015, 2012 and 2011.
Giroux currently leads the Flyers in both goals (12) and points (27) while ranking second on the team with 17 assists and appearing in all 38 games thus far. He leads all Flyers forwards in time-on-ice per-game (20:16) and ranks third among all NHL players with 510 face-off wins, and fourth in face-offs taken (893) with a win percentage of 57.1.
Since the 2010-11 season, the first year he was selected to the All-Star Team, Giroux has led all players in the NHL in the scoring department with 405 points (131g-274a) in 408 games played. His 274 assists in that span ranks third overall in the NHL.
The 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star celebration will mark the first time Nashville has hosted the NHL All-Star festivities, which will take place at Bridgestone Arena. Live television coverage of the League’s midseason showcase during the 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star Skills Competition™ and 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star Game will be broadcast by NBCSN in the U.S. and Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada. The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ will begin at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 30, and the 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star Game will start at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT on Sunday, Jan. 31.
