Washington D.C. – The Philadelphia Union fell 3-2 to D.C. United in the fourth meeting between the two clubs this season. The Union made an immediate impression, with C.J. Sapong scoring 20 seconds after the start of the game thus breaking the club´s record for fastest goal scored. Three minutes later, Sebastien Le Toux scored to make the game 2-0 in favor of the visiting side. Together, the two goals are the fastest consecutive goals scored in Union history. Despite going down early, D.C. United made a comeback with Álvaro Saborio scoring his first goal as a member of D.C. United in the 37th minute. Nick DeLeon and Fabian Espindola added to the score in the second half. With the defeat, the Union fall to ninth place in the league with a record of 6-12-4. The Union return to action in PPL Park on August 1 to face The New York Red Bulls.
