Report From Philadelphia Union
Toronto – The Philadelphia Union fell 2-1 to Toronto FC in the Union´s second meeting this season against the Canadian side. The Union came out strong, but Toronto FC scored two goals in a three minute span and the Union was unable to equalize. Marco Delgado scored in the 29th minute, sending the ball into the top corner of Brian Sylvestre´s net with Sebastian Giovinco giving the assist. Giovinco made the score 2-0 three minutes later, scoring from his own rebound. Conor Casey scored a late goal for the Union in the first minute of stoppage time to make the score 2-1. The two sides previously met this season in PPL Park on May 2 in which the Union lost 1-0 after Giovinco scored from a free kick. The Union return to action on Tuesday, July 21 to face the New York Red Bulls in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup.
