Report From Philadelphia Union
Chester, Pa. – After the disappointing end to the oldest soccer tournament in the United States in 2014, the Philadelphia Union will move to the Round of 16 of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after securing a victory against the Rochester Rhinos at PPL Park Tuesday night. At the end of extra time, the scoreboard remained 0-0 and the game went to penalties. Playing against his former club, goalkeeper John McCarthy made three saves in the penalty kick shootout, earning the victory for the Union. Edu, Nogueira and Maidana scored the penatlies for the Union in the 3-1 aggregate victory. The Union return to action on Saturday, June 20 against the L.A. Galaxy at the StubHub Center.
