Flyers Retain Brandon Manning With 1-Year Deal

The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed restricted free-agent defenseman Brandon Manning to a one-year contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Manning, 24 (6/4/1990), appeared in 73 games for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, last season.  The 6’1, 195-pound native of Prince George, British Columbia led all Phantoms blueliners in scoring with eight goals and 23 assists for 31 points.  The totals were all career highs.

Manning appeared in six games for the Flyers during the 2012-13 season, recording two assists. He has appeared in a total of 10 games for the club over his career.

An AHL All-Star in 2013, Manning has appeared in 184 games for the Phantoms over three seasons with the club.  He has posted 20 goals and 51 assists for 71 points, along with 447 penalty minutes.

Manning originally signed with the Flyers as a free agent on November 23, 2010, and joined the organization prior to the 2011-12 season following the completion of his junior career with the Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League.
