History, unfortunately, is theirs. With a 99-90 loss at Indiana Monday night, the 2013-14 76ers established a new record for consecutive losses in one season at 21. The previous mark of 20 straight losses had been held by the 1972-73 squad which finished that season 9-73.
While the Sixers (15-52) have already surpassed the total number of wins of that club, there still is time for them to set a new league record for most consecutive losses if they don’t get a win soon. They’re currently tied for the sixth-longest losing streak in NBA history with the Detroit Pistons of 1981, a streak that actually started the year prior with the 1979-90 club. The 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers hold the NBA record for consecutive losses with 26.
Thaddeus Young scored 23 points to lead the Sixers Monday. Hollis Thompson and Tony Wroten scored 17 apiece, Michael Carter-Williams added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Henry Sims contributed nine points and 11 rebounds. The Pacers improved to 50-17 with the win, the second against the Sixers in four days.
